Art and Identity: The Museum of Modern Art

It was a great experience to go to museums. Before the field trip, I thought that art was belonging to an elegant category that I would never understand. However, this trip changed my mind. All living creature has method of communication what we call is Art, and the artworks in the MoMa really attract my attention. I was lost in the world of art.

Individual identity: The first artwork that fascinated me was called Patch  On The  Earth, which is draw by Yoshitomo Nara. In the picture, there is a little girl stand in the earth lonely. In addition, her expression that seems very confused and sad doesn’t resemble common children. I keep wonder what she is looking for. Her families or her dream? The whole picture gives me a sense of sorrow. Maybe, I mean that maybe the artist was seeking his childhood.

History identity: The second artwork caught my eyes was named Wall Wailing, made by Marlene Dumas. I was shocked by this picture. There are two soldiers carrying guns. They seem to search people rudely and inhumanely, and all of people face the wall and raise their hands against the wall. Nobody dare to fight against these two soldiers and all of them keep silent. The artist paints the most of picture with black and light yellow-green, and it make people despair and heavy. As the title stated, it looks like that people are facing the wall and wail for their Miserable life.

Culture identity: There is one more artwork that draws my attention. Its name is Japanese Culture of the Postwar Year 1945-1995. This picture is about the second war and reconstruction. On the top of the picture, we can see a crying soldier, and there is also a woman in tears. These all show that people and country were injured by the war. However, the middle of the painting is that many hands hold together. It implies that Japanese get united and go over the trouble. It perfectly shows the culture of Japan.

Art is fascinating and attractive no matter whether you know art or not. I had a good time at museum. I can feel that every artist use their heart and soul to complete their artwork. I think I would cherish every art from now on.

Narrative Digital Collage

Sea is enormous, beautiful and attractive. When I was a child, I was told a lot of story about sea. From then on, I kept wandering what the sea looks like. By internet or TV, I gradually know about the charm of sea. In addition, it makes me addicted to searching information about sea. I keep dreaming that one day I can dive into deep sea and feel the sea by myself.

Good art VS Bad art

Art is not far away from our life. Every day when we eat, we can see a lot of colorful plates and bowl. When we walk in the street, many beautiful posts attract out attention. We are in the life of art. Although we are not the art critics, we all have our rules to judge a work of art.
From my point of view, the reasons that make good art good are numerous, but I think the most important reason is that good art must be creative. Just like writing essay, many gorgeous and magnificent sentences may improve your score, but the creative ideas of the essay are more important. An essay has lots of polished sentence may impress people when they read it, yet people will put essays that are written in a creative way in their heart forever. Every times I see MONA LISA SMILE; I am always surprised by Vinci’s creation. How could he be so genius and creative that make MONA LISA SMILE look different in different time of a day? I believe that Vinci apply some science theory in painting and this creative painting became famous and be popular among people. The second point of good art is that it must contain profound content or express artistes’ emotion. A good work of art has its functions or purposes. In the book “Preble’s art form”, at page 12, there is painting called “the disasters of war”. The artist draws a battlefield that is piled with many dead bodies. Two people were crying. I think that this is a good painting. The artist makes use of this painting to warn people the cruelty of war.
As for bad art, lacking of creation is the most vital reason. Copying others’ the way of creation is a really bad behavior. Regardless it is illegal, it has no worth to watch. It is better to look the real one than look the fake. And if people really like the painting, they don’t need to buy fake painting. Camera can do a better job than these painting. I don’t see the value of this painting.
